With summer winding down and the long Labor Day weekend on the horizon, I thought I would try to squeeze in another burger recipe. These BBQ Bacon Burgers are packed with so much flavor it’s just plain crazy.
It all starts by mixing your favorite BBQ sauce into the meat, along with some onion and bacon. Yes folks, you heard me right. I said there is bacon mixed into the burger. Call me crazy, but you need to trust me on this.
And, if that doesn’t get your mouth watering, how about topping the whole thing off with some Monterey Jack cheese and a creamy BBQ aioli (which is really just jazzed up mayo). You will think you’ve died and gone to burger heaven.
Of course, I served these with my homemade oven fries. And, I made sure to make extra BBQ aioli for some fry dunkin’.
We all loved these burgers. I know for a fact I’ll be making them again and again!
BBQ Bacon Burgers
Compliments of It’s a Keeper
Adapted for Six Sister’s Stuff
1 pound ground beef
8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1/4 small onion, finely minced
1-1/2 teaspoons steak seasoning (I used McCormick Montreal seasoning)
4 slices Monterey Jack cheese
4 hamburger buns, split
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup barbecue sauce
Mix together the aioli ingredients in a small bowl. In another bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled bacon, 2 tablespoons of the BBQ aioli, onion and steak seasoning. Using your hand, mix until the ingredients are combined, being careful not to over-mix the meat. Shape into four patties.
Grill burgers over medium heat for 5-7 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Place a slice of cheese on top of each patty. Cover and cook 1-2 minutes longer or until cheese has melted.
Spread remaining BBQ aioli on each side of the buns; add the burger and any other toppings you like.
Makes 4 large burgers.
