Bourbon GlazeHappy Father’s Day!  Today, I thought I would revisit one of my husband’s favorite summer meals –Crunchy Onion Bourbon Burgers!  This is an AMAZING burger that my hubby concocted all on his own.  The flavor is fantastic — the juicy burger, the crunchy onions and the sweet syrupy bourbon glaze.  Finger lickin’ good!   I posted this a while back, but at that time, we used a bottled bourbon glaze from Tastefully Simple (the home party peeps!).

The frustrating part is, we love this sauce so much that we go through it like water!  Sometimes, it’s tricky to get my hands on a new supply — since TS only sells it seasonally.  It was high time that I found a recipe to make my own!   So, I scoured the internet and found a few recipes that looked promising.  I took the parts that I liked from each of the recipes and combined them.  Some recipes called for bourbon, others for whiskey.  I decided to go with bourbon, but I imagine it would taste good with either!

Is It a Keeper?

Bourbon Glaze 2This recipe is PERFECT!  It tastes just like I had expected it to!  It’s sweet and tangy with a little zing from the cayenne.  Mmmm….mmmmm…mmmm!   Tonight, we had it on steaks.  But, in the past, I’ve used it (the bottled version) on burgers and pork chops.  Both of which, we absolutely love!  I’ll bet it would also be great on fish!

If you’re planning to use it on the grill, make sure you add it during the final few minutes of grilling.  Otherwise, the sauce will burn.  I added mine to the steak when I was eating it — like a steak sauce.

I’m so glad I have a recipe to make this amazing sauce!  Definitely a keeper!

PS…my kitchen smelled amazing while the garlic was roasting!
