wimpie sloppy joeWhether you call them Wimpies or Sloppy Joes, these sandwiches are one of the things that can instantly take me back to my childhood.  My mother has always made the BEST wimpies ever!  These are no sauce-from-a-can wimpies.  They are the real McCoy.  Made with love…from scratch.

When I asked her about the recipe, she told me it was actually my grandmother’s!  And, considering she’s 92…this recipe goes waaay back!

Is it a Keeper?

Four generations of my family have enjoyed these sandwiches through the years!  My mom would make them for a fast supper and for parties.  They’re also great reheated for lunch the next day! Whenever I make these, I usually make a double batch. They are especially great with homemade bread and butter pickles and tater tots!  Or, maybe try them with Sweet Potato Fries!

Another bonus is you can make them in the slow cooker too!  Just brown the beef, with the onions and peppers, and add it to your slow cookers with all of the other ingredients!  It’s that easy!

I hope you enjoy them as much as my family has through the years!
